What Is Intuitive Guidance?
Learning to Trust Your Inner Wisdom
Have you ever known something before you could explain it?
Maybe you accepted a job that looked perfect on paper, but something inside kept whispering that it wasn't right.
Perhaps you met someone for the first time and instantly felt at ease—or felt an unexplained need to keep your distance.
Or maybe you've ignored that quiet feeling, only to look back later and realize...
"I knew all along."
Most of us have had experiences like these.
Some people call it intuition.
Others call it a gut feeling, inner knowing, divine guidance, or simply listening to the heart.
Whatever name you give it, I believe intuition is something every one of us is born with.
The challenge isn't learning how to find it.
The challenge is remembering how to hear it again.
We Are Born Intuitive
When we're children, intuition comes naturally.
Children often sense things adults dismiss. They notice the emotions in a room before anyone says a word. They trust their feelings without needing to explain them.
As we grow older, we're taught to value logic, achievement, and certainty.
Those things have their place.
But somewhere along the way, many of us stop trusting ourselves.
We begin looking outside ourselves for answers.
We ask everyone else what they think.
We search for certainty.
And gradually, that quiet inner voice becomes harder to hear—not because it disappeared, but because life became louder.
One of the greatest gifts of intuitive work is not that it gives you something new.
It helps you remember something that has always been there.
What Is Intuitive Guidance?
To me, intuitive guidance is the gentle conversation between your soul and your conscious mind.
It is the wisdom that exists beyond fear, overthinking, and endless mental chatter.
Sometimes it arrives as a feeling.
Sometimes as an image.
Sometimes as a dream.
Sometimes through a deep knowing that simply appears without explanation.
It often speaks through synchronicities, repeated symbols, meaningful coincidences, or moments that seem too perfectly timed to ignore.
Unlike fear, intuition rarely forces itself upon you.
It simply waits for you to become quiet enough to notice.
Why We Stop Hearing Our Intuition
Over the years, I've noticed that people rarely lose their intuition.
They lose confidence in it.
Stress.
Trauma.
Fear of making the wrong decision.
Wanting everyone else to approve.
Trying to control every outcome.
All of these create noise.
When our minds become filled with noise, the quieter voice of intuition becomes difficult to recognize.
One of the reasons I love Energy Healing and shamanic work is that they help create stillness.
And within that stillness...
People often rediscover a wisdom they thought they had lost.
The Different Ways Intuition Speaks
One of the beautiful things about intuition is that it doesn't communicate with everyone in the same way.
We each have our own natural intuitive language.
Some people primarily receive guidance through images.
Others through feelings.
Some simply know.
Others hear guidance internally as words or phrases.
None of these is better than another.
They are simply different ways your inner wisdom may communicate.
Clairvoyance – Clear Seeing
Clairvoyance is receiving intuitive information through images, colors, symbols, or scenes within your mind.
It doesn't necessarily mean seeing vivid visions.
Sometimes it's simply a picture that flashes into your awareness and carries meaning long after you've seen it.
Clairaudience – Clear Hearing
Clairaudience is receiving intuitive information through words, phrases, or an inner voice.
This isn't usually something heard with your physical ears.
It's more like a thought that arrives with unusual clarity—one that feels different from ordinary thinking.
Clairsentience – Clear Feeling
Many highly sensitive people naturally experience clairsentience.
This is receiving intuitive information through feelings, emotions, or physical sensations.
You may immediately sense the atmosphere of a room or instinctively know when someone is struggling, even before they speak.
Claircognizance – Clear Knowing
Claircognizance is perhaps the hardest to explain because it often arrives without any obvious reason.
You simply know.
There may be no image.
No feeling.
No logical explanation.
The knowing is simply there.
Many people dismiss this gift because they cannot explain where the information came from.
Yet it is often one of the clearest forms of intuition.
Can Everyone Develop Their Intuition?
I believe they can.
Not everyone will become a professional intuitive, just as not everyone becomes a concert pianist.
But everyone can strengthen their relationship with their own inner guidance.
Like any meaningful relationship, intuition grows through attention.
The more you listen, the more familiar it becomes.
The more you trust it, the more often you begin to recognize it.
My Approach to Intuitive Guidance
One of the things that feels most important to me is helping people reconnect with their own wisdom.
When someone comes to me for an intuitive session, I don't see my role as telling them what to do or predicting every detail of their future.
In fact, I believe that giving someone all the answers can sometimes take them further away from themselves.
Instead, I see intuitive guidance as a conversation.
During a session I may receive images, symbols, emotions, words, or impressions that help bring greater understanding to a situation.
Sometimes the messages are deeply affirming.
Sometimes they gently invite a different perspective.
Sometimes they simply remind someone of something they already knew deep inside.
One of my favorite moments is when a client smiles and says,
"I already knew that... I just didn't trust myself."
To me, that's the real purpose of intuitive guidance.
Not creating dependence.
Creating confidence.
Simple Ways to Strengthen Your Intuition
Like any relationship, your relationship with intuition grows through time and attention.
You don't need complicated rituals.
You simply need moments of presence.
Spend time in nature.
Meditate.
Journal.
Pay attention to your dreams.
Notice recurring symbols and synchronicities.
Create quiet moments where your own thoughts can settle.
Perhaps the most powerful practice is also the simplest.
Begin asking yourself:
What feels true for me?
Not...
What should I do?
Not...
What does everyone else expect of me?
But...
What feels true?
The answer may not always be comfortable.
But in my experience, it is often where healing begins.
Beginning Your Journey
Your intuition has never left you.
It has been quietly waiting beneath the expectations, responsibilities, fears, and distractions of everyday life.
Sometimes all it needs is a little space.
A little stillness.
A little trust.
Whether you're seeking clarity about a decision, longing to reconnect with yourself, or simply curious about your own intuitive gifts, know that you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin.
One small step is enough.
One quiet moment is enough.
Because every journey back to yourself begins the same way.
By listening.
And perhaps discovering that the wisdom you've been searching for has been within you all along.
